DEKALB JUNCTION - The funeral service for Margaret Hamilton, 93, of
DeKalb Junction, was held on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Allen-Denesha
Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, with Reverend William Hart officiating.
Burial followed in the Old DeKalb Cemetery.
Mrs. Hamilton died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the Canton Potsdam Hospital.
Born September 21, 1921, in Worcester, Vermont, she was the daughter
of Noyce C. and Winifred (Lucas) Pedroza.
Margaret graduated from the Ogdensburg School of Practical Nursing in
1964, as a licensed practical nurse.
She was married to Robert Rickett Hamilton on February 5, 1946, in Bremerton,
Washington. Mr. Hamilton died on December 28, 1999.
Mrs. Hamilton was an LPN at E.J. Noble Hospital, Canton. In 1977 she
went to work at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, and she retired in
1988.
She was a member and treasurer of the DeKalb Craft Club. She was also
a member of the Old DeKalb Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer
for 10 years and was on the finance committee. She was a member of the
DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, and the Town of DeKalb Historical
Association.
Mrs. Hamilton was the deputy supervisor in the Town of DeKalb in 1988,
she served on the Hermon-DeKalb Central School Board of Education for
12 years, and she was a judge at the St. Lawrence County Fair for needlework.
She loved bowling, reading, quilting, knitting, doing needlework and
crafts and playing cards.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her children, Victoria Hamilton, Old DeKalb,
Marjorie Hamilton, Lynchburg, Virginia, Susan Hamilton and fiancé,
Peter Mezoian, of South Portland, Maine, Noyce "Allen" Pedroza,
Gouverneur, Sophie and Reg Chilton, DeKalb Junction, Roger Hamilton
and David Hamilton both of Gouverneur, and Ben Peck, of Heuvelton; Six
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Pedroza.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Old DeKalb Methodist
Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
