ANTWERP – The funeral service for Ella M. Young, 66, Antwerp,
was Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur,
with Fr. Stephen Rocker, pastor of St. James Catholic Church, Gouverneur,
officiating. Spring burial will be in North Russell Cemetery.
Mrs. Young died Monday, February 22, 2010, at home under the care
of family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Born November 24, 1943, in Madrid, she was the daughter of Joseph
and Stella (Goodman) White Sr. She attended school in Madrid.
She was married to Frank W. Young, on November 24, 1962, at St. Johns
Baptist Church in Madrid, with Karlton J. Dewey officiating. Mr. Young
died on December 15, 2007.
Mrs. Young worked as a homemaker, provided house cleaning, and assisted
her husband with his logging business.
She enjoyed berry picking, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, canning,
and baking.
Mrs. Young is survived by a son, Allen F. and Amy Young of Corinth;
two daughters, Carolyn M. and George Miles, of Millerton, and Tammy
F. Young of Antwerp; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Smith and Christopher
Sweet, Erika and Jason Desormeaux, George and Chelsey Miles Jr., Cody
Young and Dawn Smith, Shawn Mitchell, Matt Young, James Young, Robert
Daniels II, Ashley Young, and Taylor Young; four great-grandchildren
Shantall Sweet, Leigha Sweet, Drake Desormeaux, and Warren Desormeaux,
and two great grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by four
sisters Joyce White of Madrid, Estella DeLosh of Massena, Gloria and
Kent Pierce of Lisbon, and Beverly and Richard Arndts, of Fairbolt,
Mississippi; and four brothers, Alfred and Charlotte White of Madrid,
Joseph and Barbra White Jr. of N. Syracuse, Milton White of Wilcott,
and Lawrence and Debbie White of Bridgeport, Massachusetts.
She is predeceased by two brothers, George and Victor White; and a
great-granddaughter, Alissa Elizabeth Sweet.
