The funeral service for Marjorie Hosmer Drummond, 88, of Gouverneur,
was Monday, August 2, 2010, at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with
Rev. William Hart officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery
in Gouverneur.
Arrangements were with the French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Mrs. Drummond died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at E. J. Noble Hospital,
Gouverneur, after a brief illness.
Born Anna Marjorie Hosmer, in Gouverneur, on August 3, 1921, she was
the daughter of Forest C. and Doris Elizabeth (Howe) Hosmer, of Macomb.
Marjorie was a 1939 graduate of Gouverneur High School and 1943 graduate
of Potsdam State Teachers College. From 1944 to 1946 she taught 7th
and 8th grades at the Bellville School.
She was married to George Elmer Drummond, on November 7, 1947, at the
First Presbyterian Church, Gouverneur.
Marjorie and Elmer were lifelong residents of Gouverneur, where they
owned and operated Drummond's Dairy from 1947 to 1985. Mrs. Drummond
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gouverneur.
Mrs. Drummond is survived by a son, Dale L Drummond and his wife Marie
of Helena, Alabama; and a granddaughter, Karen of Alexandria, Virginia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer, who died on January 29, 2008.
