HAILESBORO — A graveside service for Mary M. Forsythe, 93, of
Hailesboro, was held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, in the East Riverside
Cemetery, Gouverneur, with David Forsythe, Mrs. Forsythe's grandson,
officiating.
French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, was in charge of her funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Forsythe died Friday, July 30, 2010, at her home under the loving
care of her family.
Born on June 24, 1917, in Rossie, she was the daughter of the late Guy
and Lottie (Lancto) Wood. She attended school in Gouverneur.
She was married to Carlton W. Forsythe on May 5, 1936, at the Gouverneur
United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Mr. Forsythe
died on March 11, 1985.
Mrs. Forsythe was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family.
Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton and Beverly
Forsythe Jr., of Gouverneur, and Roy and Karen Forsythe, of Fowler;
two daughters, Carlene Forsythe of Fowler, and Janice Forsythe, of Gouverneur;
two brothers, Harland Wood, of Waterloo, and Loren Wood, of Fort Knox,
Kentucky; two sisters, Elizabeth Hammond, of California and Donna Winegarner,
of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Sonny, Vernon and
Bernie Wood; and two sisters, Audrey Zirk, and Freida Gore.
